The IDEC group is a 500+ Million USD global organisation specialising in the manufacture and sales of HMI components, Safety and Machinery Automation, with aggressive expansion plans in the EMEA market.




As part of our overall expansion plans in EMEA an opportunity exists for a Safety Product Specialist working within the local sales team.
The successful candidate will take overall responsibility for the development of sales of all Safety products in the French operating nationally.

Assessing the customer needs via direct customer contact and risk assessment, the Safety Product Specialist (SPS) will recommend, quote for and oversee the growth of Safety Products within France.



Carryout all duties and functions as set out in this list of responsibilities, below:

  • Achieve or surpass targeted sales levels for the given products in the defined territory according to the sales plan and in association with his manager.
  • Develop short & long term sales plans for the territory.
  • Keep aware of and provide detail of competitor activity and provide adequate cost detail when requesting supported price applications.
  • Provide effective contact with customers and colleagues.
  • Frequent customer visits to introduce APEM / IDEC, in line with the sales strategy and action plan.
  • Customer visits will include inspection of customer machinery which will include risk assessment, safety assessment of machines and facilities, identification of hazards, CE monitoring & review of safety concepts.
    • Or customer visits to discuss new system designs which will require customer support and consultancy to achieve the desired safety performance level.
    • Or customer visits to discuss replacement of existing safety solutions with those provided by IDEC.
    • From such visits detailed reports should be created regarding safety solutions and corrective actions, which may be presented to customers or internally, and will form the basis of future hardware and service sales.
  • Prepare & present proposals and appropriate quotations to the customer based on the available APEM / IDEC solutions.
  • Maintain contact with all important customers and relevant distributors to develop closer association with these companies to ensure ongoing business development


The candidate:

The ideal candidate is a technical sales person, specialising in safety. They will have a background in electrical or automation engineering at degree level or equivalent and be competent in the understanding & application of machine safety including the Machinery Directives, the associated Standards & Power Regulations. In addition, experience of process safety and ATEX would be advantageous.

Any candidate should give consideration that IDEC / APEM are specialists in the Industrial Control, Factory Automation & Machine interface technology and subsequently our product portfolio includes PLC, HMI & associated control components (switches, joysticks, indicators) that sit closely alongside the increasing range of Machine & Process safety products. As such, being familiar with these products and their application would be useful.

The successful candidate will have a fluency in French and English, both spoken and written, and have a proven experience in a similar sales role at a safety orientated electro-mechanical hardware manufacturer or safety system designer/integrator.


Preference will be given to a candidate with previous experience in a similar role, however some training will be given to the right candidate.

A competitive salary, car and overall package is offered with the role, which will be negotiable according to the experience brought by the applicant.
